A central part of Gl. Holtegaard's vision is the establishment of a unique sculpture park, integrated into the historic Baroque garden. Here, permanent and changing works will form part of a dynamic interaction with the landscape and the kunsthalles exhibitions. The sculpture park will be an open and accessible space for everyone all year round, and will eventually develop into a strong landmark for Gl. Holtegaard.

Gl. Holtegaard will present an ambitious program of exhibitions, classical concerts, lectures and events. With a focus on classical artistic disciplines such as sculpture and painting as well as strong international and Scandinavian artistic positions, the goal is to create experiences of high quality and relevance.

As an integral part of the artistic vision, Gl. Holtegaard is closely connected to The Art Residency in Pietrasanta, Italy, where selected artists are given the opportunity to immerse themselves and develop in inspiring settings. The residency serves as a creative starting point for new works and ideas, which can subsequently find their way to exhibitions and the sculpture park at Gl. Holtegaard. The interaction between the residency and the kunstshalle creates a unique artistic continuity and strengthens the connection between international art production and local roots.

At the same time, the ambition extends beyond art alone. Gl. Holtegaard wants to be a place that connects art and science and contributes to new perspectives on the world around us – with morality and ethics as central landmarks for a sustainable future.

Since 2025, Gl. Holtegaard has  undergone extensive restoration. In May 2026, the revitalized kunsthalle will open – a cultural center where art, culture and knowledge come together, and where new perspectives take shape.
